John was sitting on the floor in the corner. Ruber was sleeping and Ariel wasn't responding to his knocks. Something compelled him to get up and try the door. Finding it open. Instantly John felt himself sprint into a run. Knowing full well he probably should be wary of traps or guards. He ran outside and then to the road. And surprisingly quickly he had ran to the city. Finding himself on the door of the hospis that housed his mother. Somehow his first instinct was to go there than to his bar. He knew Lacey had everything in check. When John opened the door to his mothers room and was bombarded with a swarm of flies to his face. When he managed to flail them away he noticed he had opened the door back to the room he had left from. But not quite the same. Yes it was dark in the room and it had the same ugly furniture as his room had, but there was a woman sitting in the reclining chair. John turned around to look behind him, but only found the door locked behind him. Instead John moved forward to the chair and the woman that had her back to him. Once close enough he placed his hand on her shoulder. It felt so bony. He turned the chair a bit to see who it was and was shocked to see a mummyfied corpse sitting on the chair. The skin had gone brown and pasted over the bones like it had melted. The empty eyes staring back at him. The skin over the teeth had shrunk and revealed the skeleton's wide smile. It made John a little nauseous. John backed away and took a closer look at the corpse. Suddenly noticing it was wearing the same clothes his mother used last time he had seen her.....
John gasped and shot up on the bed. Panting heavily. Slowly coming to a realization that it had been a bad dream that was all. It felt so real though and made his stomach turn a little. John bent his legs up a little and buried his face into his hands. Taking deep and calming breaths. The constant fear and worry about his loved ones outside was always more or less on his mind, mainly Izzy and his mother. Sometimes Lacey and some of his friends too. John did his best to push those fears and anxiety's away, but apparently they were already invading his dreams. Or maybe it was just the fucked up ghost painting causing the nightmares.

Ruber woke annoyed. He had had such a sweet dream about rainbows and unicorns and colorful flowerbirds and lollip- okay, so maybe he was having a nightmare too, but at least he didn't bother John with it. Grumbling, he shifted in bed. "Keep the cold sweat on your side of the bed." It was muttered in a sort of half-asleep slur, eager to get back to sleep. The nightmares he had asleep might be terrible, but they were the only entertainment he had. Staring at four walls and John all day every day was driving him insane. His nightmares might not be pleasant, but they granted him an escape, something new to experience, and he couldn't wait to get back to his own private world of deep, open graves and storm flooding, in combination. He was almost tempted to kick the man out of bed for waking him again, but the fight that would ensue wouldn't give him any more bed rest, either, so he decided it was a fight he would rather save for the morning. He was just too tired to bother right now.

John wanted to smack the man that was laying next to him for being such an insensitive prick. "Keep your snarky remarks to yourself for once..." He muttered. "I really am not in the mood to start a fight with you..." He said massaging his face with his hand for a little trying to ease the tension from his temples. Not really eager to go back to sleep, nor really eager to stay awake either.

"Keep your night terrors to yourself, then. I am not in the mood to be woken up again." That was the way of John, though. Everything had to be on his terms and every annoying thing he did was okay, while he didn't want any of it back from Ruber. Selfish, little prick, really. Entitled, spoiled, petty, stupid, ignorant, self-sabotaging asshole. Ruber almost wanted to know what his parents were like, but he could image. Little prince John in his castle of toys and candy. He still didn't turn around. Ruber just wanted to go back to sleep. All he wanted was for John to stop being a nuisance until they either got out of here, or died. Every second spent with John was a second closer to favoring the latter. Actually, thinking about it... John wasn't that bad. Just pretty bad. Bad enough to get on Ruber's fucking nerves right now.

John shot Ruber a glare and grabbed his pillow and hit Ruber with it just not aiming at all. He was getting pissed with Ruber's shitty attitude towards him. Like Ruber had him all figured out, but he knew nothing of him. "You don't know anything about me, so stop being such a fucking prick."

Okay, that was it. Ruber grabbed the pillow, turned around and shoved it in John's face. Not enough to injure, just enough to annoy. "What I know about you is that you have been repeatedly keeping me up at nights, crying over your nightmares like a fucking pussy." Ruber's red eyes didn't exactly make him look less mad or less threatening, just more desperate, which meant more dangerous. "I don't know what your fucking problem is, but do you mind figuring it out like, five more meters away from me, at least?" It wasn't asked as a kind request. At this point is was more of an order. Ruber was fed up with this long time ago.

"I don't bother you with my problems. You just have to exaggerate everything I do. Why is that? Why you hate me so much?" He asked looking at Ruber with just as much impatience in his eyes as the other one. He was not making any move to get off the bed. At this point he really could not care less if the brute was gonna snap his neck or not. He just wanted a roommate who wasn't going to be on his period everytime John did or said something.

Dummy did it again. He was too stupid to see the flaw in his own argument. The fact that Ruber had awoken at all was proof that he wasn't exaggerating. His sleep had been disrupted. Again. Sure, Ruber wasn't a heavy sleeper, for multiple reasons, but he didn't think a little night rest was too much to ask for. "I'm not used to company. And every day you remind me why I stay away from it." It was a low grumble as he turned away from the man again, hopeful that maybe he could sleep now that he had yelled at the man. His family wasn't bad, but Ruber had had to raise himself, care for himself. He had never connected much with his parents, he didn't have any siblings, pets were too much of a hassle. Ruber liked being on his own. It avoided situations like this, where he had to deal with annoying individuals. Being on his own meant doing whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted, without showing consideration for other people, without sharing, and definitively without being woken up at night.

John sighed and shook his head a little. "Well tough luck. Now you are locked here with me, no matter if you like it or not. Either you get off your period and start getting used to the fact that we are stuck together in this room, and we better start getting along at least a little bit. Or you can go and drown yourself in the toilet if that is what you prefer to the first option." John said, his voice rather cold and emotionless. It even sent some shivers down his own spine. This place was really bringing out the worst in him.

Ruber shot up, finally giving up on the idea of sleep that night. Did John just dare tell him to get off his period? Ruber was really close to punch him square in the face at this point, but the rest of what he said make a twisted sort of sense, and Ruber couldn't disagree with it. But agreeing with it and acting on it were two different things and John had pissed Ruber off too much for Ruber to be kind to him now. "I opt for option C. Maybe I'll drown you in the toilet."

John gave Ruber a cold and uncaring look. "You can go right ahead and try." He said shifting his position a bit. "Just know that I won't be going cheap." He said reminding Ruber subtly of the last time they had had a fight. Thinking that this time he was not going to go for immobilization. Rather that if he got the chance to blind the guy he definitely would. John maintained the eye contact. Not really challenging him or anything. Just waiting to see what Ruber was going to do next.

"Look, I get it," Ruber sighed. "Mommy didn't love you enough so you had to scream for attention, and now it's hard for you to shut the fuck up. Must've been really hard for you." Ruber knew consciously that if he wasn't careful he was going to set off another fight, but Ruber had always been stubborn, and he wasn't about to stop that now. Specially not when this pesky little dummy kept pushing his buttons. "But hey, here's a twist. The less noise you make, the more I might love you," Ruber almost laughed, batting his eyelashes and puckering up his lips for show.

John shot Ruber a glare. "Actually my mother loved me just fine thank you for asking." John said lifting his hand up and then using his middle finger to scratch his face. Or more like pretending to scratch it. It was more of a subtle way to flip the bird. But then again Ruber might just be dumb enough to notice. "It was my father who was absent all my life. Was never that keen on seeing him either." John said laying back down. "What about you and your parents? Your father beat you or something to turn you into such a cunt?"

"Only in basket." Truth be told, Ruber almost wished his father had beaten him. At least it would have been some form of discipline. But he wasn't about to reminisce and be sad about the past. There was no need. What passed had passed, and there was only anything to do about the present and the future. Now he just wished there was more to do about the present. Maybe he would indeed have to kill John later, if it proved to be his only option.

John glanced over at Ruber. He really had the height to be good at basketball, and surely the arm strength too. "You play basketball?" He asked simply. John himself was more into soccer as a British man, but he did appreciate the finery of other sports too.
